Sadly, the Goodpasture parent organization does not even have a website or forum to call its own. It's entire web presence (officially) seems to be totally under the control of whoever runs and operates the Goodpasture school website.
http://www.goodpasture.org/news_pto.htm
Took a look at the site this morning, all 15 seconds that it required. Wow, what a useful and informative resource. Perhaps, as Gil Drake likes to say, "give us time...." The real question is what comes after that phrase? Possible conclusions to the statement are:
... and the PTO will have its own web site that is independently under the control of the PTO's board and officers.
... and the PTO's portion of the Goodpasture web site will be expanded to include more information that is interesting as long as it is favorable to the administration.
... and the parents will realize that the PTO has no real independence or influence on the course of the school and it will be gone as we expected.
,,, because I need to get my team together and figure out how to best take advantage of the PTO to make sure that I keep this job and the huge salary that goes with it
Goodpasture's parents need something Goodpasture will not endorse or support - an open forum where real concerns, compliments and questions can be discussed even if those topics are not favorable to the status quo. |

| As a parent, I feel cheated by my investment in the PTO. I think it has failed to serve the parents and students at Goodpasture and that the decision to adopt school uniforms was pushed by the PTO officers as their personal desires. Goodpasture's families need a strong PTO but that is not what we have. I am curious to see who the nominees will be for next year. I am almost expecting that there will not be nominees. |

Sniffles,
I have addressed one of your wimpy replys thus far. Again, Are you involved in the PTO in any way? I don't believe you are. Or you would know that the PTO officers had nothing to do with the uniforms being applied next year. I know a board member who voted against it. Oh yes, a vote! Did you even bother to vote? Yes, they were counted, just as the votes of the current PTO officers voted into office. Maybe you should get involved instead of complaining. |

| With all the focus on the administrations firing of Jim Reed, I noticed that we have not heard a word from the PTO about what it is doing to protect the interests of the band students or to communicate to the parents what is going on with the school. What a wonderful organization for parents, when a problem arises with the administration it disappears. |

The PTO Officers welcome calls/contacts from any GCS family, parent, student, or faculty member.
You may get any of our telephone numbers/email addresses from the GCS offices. (New officers/representatives will be elected on 5/1/2007 @ the general meeting). |

You think so. Talk to some of the band parents who started calling Tommy the day the word broke that Gil had fired Mr. Reed. It was more of a "so what" than anything else particularly when his wife told the caller that she would take a message. |

| "So what". That's nice, what if we said "so what" to what the parents in the PTO were doing or Cougar Day or Football Games or Homecoming or Graduation? The problems come from the top down! |

Did you graduate from Goodpasture in 1972? If you say, yes, I will come back with a reply. |
